Designing Websites In Photoshop Illustrator?
So you have done some initial sketches for the look of your new design. Now it's time to develop these ideas. So let's jump into Photoshop. Stop! Wait just a minute. What about Illustrator? That can do web-design stuff too, can’t it?
For the “its time to develop these sketches”-stage of designing a site it's worth giving Illustrator a try. You’d be surprised. Sure you can create precise finished results in Photoshop; yet Illustrator excels at generating loads of designs quickly. Comparing designs is easy — just spread them out all over your canvas. It's faster to move things around. It's easier to resize things. It's not that Illustrator is better. It's just different.

For the “its time to develop these sketches”-stage of designing a site it’s worth giving Illustrator a try. You’d be surprised. Sure you can create precise finished results in Photoshop; yet Illustrator excels at generating loads of designs quickly. Comparing designs is easy — just spread them out all over your canvas. It’s faster to move things around. It’s easier to resize things. It’s not that Illustrator is better. It’s just different.
The designs you’ve done now might not be polished to perfection, but you can certainly tell which are worth developing and which you need to chuck. After all, it doesn’t matter how much time you spend polishing a bad design — it just never becomes a good design.
If we take the analogy of polishing a step further, when polishing a stone you start with a very coarse paper or grit and work your way gradually to a very fine paper or grit. In the same way you don’t just jump from rough idea to final polish. It doesn’t give good results.
For that final polish, Photoshop (in my opinion) cannot be beaten. However for the stage between initial sketches and finishing touches Illustrator is a worthy tool and worth a try if you haven’t already.

Well gang, it’s time for another round of presets. This time around I’m following up Matt’s Deep Blue Sky presets with Matt’s Dramatic Sky presets. Most of the presets I’ve used that dealt with enhancing skies usually just enhanced the color. But I’ve put a few other things in these presets that specialize in making the clouds look better too. You can use ‘em in photos with no clouds, but you’ll find they really do some cool stuff where there’s a decent amount of clouds to be found. Or use them in photos with no sky at all. They probably won’t work well but they’re your presets now right?! Oh yeah, when I say clouds, I mean those big white puffy clouds - not an overcast cloudy day OK. Hey… I’m just sayin’
Anyway, let me know how they work and what you think in the comments area. Thanks and have a great Monday!

Backboard - Online Feedback Management For Design Projects
Backboard is a simple, lightweight utility that allows you to get feedback on documents, images and web pages. You don't need an account, just upload your document and you'll be set up with a Backboard at a dedicated URL. Decide which colleagues and friends you would like feedback from, and Backboard will send your URL to those people with an invitation to leave feedback. Along with support for all common document and image formats, Backboard also allows users to request feedback on any website. To find out more details we did a quick interview with Kimber Lockhart, the CEO of Increo Solutions, which is the company behind this software. So here's the inside scoop on Backboard... 35 Beautiful Music Album Covers
Album cover art is often considered to be one of the "extincted" fields in modern graphics design. In times when digital copies are cheaper and quicker to get, album covers have somehow lost their importance as less and less customers actually buy CDs and LPs in the stores. That's a pity because album covers can be extremely expressive and convey the message of the album in a number of creative ways. This post attempts to prove exactly that.
Music and art go hand in hand. And the best way to get a potential buyers' attention is with an eye catching album cover. We all know you can't just judge a book by it's cover but it doesn't hurt to give a CD a spin based off a sexy piece of art.
Below we present 35 excellent examples of beautiful, creative and impressive album covers that will certainly inspire you to head down to the local record shop and start browsing through records and labels. We have tried to address various cover designs and present both CD covers and LP covers from 60s to 2000s, however some excellent album covers are definitely missing. Please let us know about them in the comments to the post!
